I love to work my way through a list and check off all of the boxes.
I'm a Bruce County girl, born, raised, and raising my own kids here.
My kids want to see the world, but I think we should start with all of the amazing sights in our own backyard.
I am not a professional hiker. At. All.
I need to have a project on the go at all times.
And the last thing you should know about me in my very first blog post ever, is that I like my hikes to be short-ish, awe-some, and I like there to be a wow moment on every trail.

In this crazy summer of simplifying and staying close to home, my project has been to finally crack open my copy of The Bruce Trail Reference, edition 29, and discover some of the trails that wind through Bruce and Grey counties. I've hardly done any exploring in Grey County, so I started there.
After a great hike near Annan, Taylor and I stopped into The Ginger Press in Owen Sound to pick up a book about the Silent Valley nature reserve, BUT, instead I found Ron Savage's brand new book, Secrets of Sydenham. 30 Hikes and Explorations for Secret Codes on Bruce Trail Conservancy Nature Reserves.
Eureka!
A project, a trail guide, a check list, and a big set of adventures, all within 30 minutes of my laneway.
So, come along with me as I blog my way through finding all 38 codes hidden in Sydenham. Buy the book to collect the codes using the clues, or just for the extra guidance it will give you when following the blue blazes.
And I can't resist the call of Bruce County trails, so there will be some of them peppered through the blog as well.
Jen
