KOA Sidetrail Loop Hike #14

My very first Secrets hike was in the Rock Springs Nature Reserve. But there are two codes to find here! An unseasonably warm October day had the whole family joining in the hike.

The trails behind the KOA a wonderland of mossy rocks and varied trail. No straight lines in sight as you wind your way in from the parking on Side Road 15.

See my first post It takes Two describes how to enter the trails and today we again took the Rock Springs blue Side Trail to the intersection where it meets up with the KOA side trail.

The KOA Side Trail goes through the park for a bit. It's quiet in October, and this part of the trail will be closed for the winter in the future.

Joining up with the main trail on the other side of the park we head slowly up while the streams are heading down beside us.

At the top of the slope is an awesome pine forest of pencil straight trees and long rows. This forest feels so orderly after the chaos of a mixed forest.

Follow the white main trail all the way back to the road allowance, past the snowmobile club and to your vehicle.
